Community service

Giving back is the backbone of my family, my faith, and my school.

My time with the Boys and Girls Club of San Juan, Puerto Rico was humbling as it serves the children living in the largest public housing complex on the Island. I was able to build connections and bridge language barriers through sports.

Teens4PR was formed after Hurricane Maria by first generation Puerto Rican teens living in the NYC-area. As one of the founding members, the goal was to raise funds through numerous fundraisers and drives as well as awareness in order to support the relief efforts.

I’m proud to attend a school that puts an emphasis on service. Dedicating my time to help others — whether it be preparing meals or packing school supplies in backpacks — and giving back to my community has been a gratifying experience. Volunteering has become more than a family commitment or a school requirement, it is something that I choose to do to help make a difference for someone in need.
